Hostile is from the depths of Texas that have a brutal mixture of Thrash, Groove, and Heavy Metal. The band has been building a great name for themselves and after a full decade of being together, have finally released their debut EP, Hypnotic Regression. I had the opportunity to ask the band's frontman J.R. Martinez a few questions showcasing everything you need to know about the band what what is to come.

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this interview. For those that may not be familiar, tell us a little bit about Hostile.
We are a metal band from Dallas TX – we have been together for 10 years and last year recorded our much anticipated first EP, Hypnotic Regression.

Your new EP, Hypnotic Regression has been out for a couple of months now. How has the reception been for the new EP so far?
Great! It has been well received at our shows.

The whole EP showcases the band with some amazing playing and songwriting. Very nice and heavy all around and with very inspiring lyrics. Was that the goal of the EP or did that come naturally?
Well yes, it was the goal but it definitely came naturally. The songs were very personal and based on our own individual experiences. Some through being beaten down by people, bullied, lied to, and then losing loved ones to drugs.

How much do you feel the band has progressed in the last decade?
A lot, we have definitely grown as a band and individually as well and it shows in the music – especially since we originally started playing covers.

You have gotten to do some really cool shows opening for awesome bands like Mobile Deathcamp and Drowning Pool. How much have you guys learned from playing shows with bands of those calibers?
Definitely was an awesome experience touring with those guys!! They are all amazing and it really makes you strive harder to step up to get to the next level.

What’s next for the band in 2017?
More touring and then about mid-year going back into the studio to start a new album.

Did you have any favorite albums to come out in 2016?
That’s hard to say – we are all different in our musical influences and are very eclectic in what we listen to.

When you’re not working on Hostile, how to you like to spend your time?
With family and friends – but we are always writing and thinking about the next song!

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this interview. I’m really digging Hypnotic Regression and very interested to see where the band goes next. Before we are done is there anything else you would like to mention that I haven’t brought up yet?
Check us out on Facebook.com/hostilemetal for upcoming tours and events. Also you can find Hypnotic Regression on iTunes and Google Play. Thanks!
